Cummins Facility Services: Jessica White

I’ve talked before about my passion for helping others. My latest work is dedicated to helping create opportunities to increase diversity within the technology field, and continuing support of wonderful causes within our community and our industry. I have been super excited to see a shared commitment to service, philanthropy, volunteering, and giving back here at Cummins Facility Services (CFS).

As we’ve connected with so many different people at many different companies with many different missions and endeavors, it has only furthered our drive as an organization to get more involved in our communities and lend a hand to the causes that need it most.

At CFS, we prioritize giving back to our community and we love seeing our employees carry this out in their lives outside of work, too! Recently, CFS has been involved in building partnerships with local community organizations to help expand our reach and provide job opportunities to underrepresented groups. It’s a company value to invest time and energy on giving back, and we love seeing our employees carry this out in their lives outside of work, too!

This article features a couple, but certainly not all, of the fun ways that CFS employees are making a difference.

Providing a safe haven for animals in need

More than four years ago, Jessica White, CFS district manager, realized a passion for fostering animals when a friend who rescued a dog from a park was unable to care for him, and Jessica took over the role. Since then, Jessica’s passion has expanded into routinely working with 15 different rescue agencies in Ohio and surrounding states, serving as a temporary caretaker for animals who often come through situations of neglect or owner surrender. Jessica nurses them back to good health or transports them to rescue agencies as they begin the journey to their forever homes. Jessica’s amazing work is a true testament to starting where you can and making a difference in the causes that mean the most to you.

Serving to protect our country

No stranger to hard work, Vivian Akers followed in the footsteps of many family members before her and joined the United States Army after graduating high school. She advanced quickly with special assignments and administrative duties, later saying, “I learned all of the things I needed to survive if I went to war. I had no idea how much it would actually prepare me for life.” Vivian was awarded top honors for outstanding performance while in training with her platoon. Vivian is a true testament to challenging oneself to help others, and we’re so proud to have her on our team!

Collecting prom dresses for teens

Cathy Waddell, director of marketing & employee relations, makes a difference in the lives of many through her incredible Psalm 139 Ministry. This initiative collects prom dresses and offers them for free to local students at the Marion First Church of the Nazarene. ‘Shoppers’ can go through the racks and try-on dresses, making a special experience while choosing their gown! We are so proud of Cathy’s work in this space and for making a difference in the lives of so many young women.

Thank you, to our CFS team, for always going above and beyond on the job and out in your communities! The world is better because of the impact you are making as individuals and as a team.
